As a child, Molly spent summers with her cousins in Inverness,
a small beach town in Northern California. It was here
that she fell in love with horses.
She and her cousin Ruby spent every day with the two family
ponies, Peanuts and Swami, swimming in Tomales Bay
and galloping along the Inverness Ridge tops.
They gave the ponies endless baths with too much
soap, trimmed their manes and forelocks with big
kitchen scissors, and tried spending nights in the
paddock, getting no sleep with the ponies
pawing at their sleeping bags.
Starting in the Childrens' H/J when she was 11 she
showed consistently through Juniors, A/A's and A/O's.
she became a successful competitor in Equitation,
Medal classes, and jumper divisions in Northern
California, training with Patty Ball, Gry and Duncan
McFarland and Hope and Ned Glynn.
Riding was put on hold when Molly entered UC Berkeley
and joined the rowing team, never imagining it would
become the focus of her life for the next 15 years.
In 1990 she moved East to train with the United States
National Rowing Team. She competed in The Pan Am
Games, two Olympic Trials, and won a gold medal in
The World Rowing Championships in 1999.
Rowing competitively eventually came to an end, and her
love of horses became her focus again.
Molly and her Mom Sue bought a small horse farm in Petaluma and began
a rehab/retraining program for Thoroughbreds who's racing careers were over.
Some became sport horses, others pleasure horses or pasture buddies. Molly's mom sat in the stall of a horse on stall rest for a month and read to him every day.
It was here that Molly began teaching riding and and found that she enjoyed it, calling on her years of being coached herself as an elite rower.
During this time Molly began going to horse shows with a talented, rowdy
Holsteiner named Carl, aka Tivoli. Molly and Carl shared a
deep connection and he was with her for 17 years
until he passed at age 25.
In 2013 Molly moved to Southern California
and has been teaching riding and training hunter/jumpers ever since.
She is a well respected coach and competitor,
and a passionate advocate for the well-being of horses.
